Celebrating NSCHC’s Women Who Lead

Chief Financial Officer Winter Epps and Human Resources Director Tesha Ellison

In honor of Women’s History Month, NSCHC Chief Financial Officer Winter Epps and Human Resources Director Tesha Ellison joined Dr. Wayne N. Walters and 100 other women leaders for a middle school career exploration day on March 28. These professionals and community champions visited 27 local schools to share their career journeys and inspire students. Winter visited Obama Academy in East Liberty, while Tesha spoke with students at Pittsburgh Schiller on the Northside.

“As a product of the Pittsburgh Public School system, it was my pleasure to participate in the Women Who Lead event during Women’s History Month,” said Tesha Ellison. “I visited Pittsburgh Schiller and spoke with students about my journey to becoming NSCHC’s Human Resources Director. They were amazed that I was the same age as most of their parents, that I attended Overbrook Elementary, Frick International Studies, and Schenley High School—all Pittsburgh Public Schools—and that I originally wanted to be a teacher but pivoted to business management and human resources in college.”

Winter Epps, also a Pittsburgh Public Schools alumna, attended Manchester Elementary and Allegheny Middle School before graduating from Perry Traditional Academy and earning her MBA from Carlow University. “I am proud to be an example of what a good education, hard work, and dedication can achieve for children exploring their career paths,” she added.

The Barack Obama Academy of International Studies is an International Baccalaureate World School that prepares students to be academically well-rounded, globally competitive, compassionate, and confident in a safe and supportive environment. Pittsburgh Schiller, a STEAM Magnet School serving grades six through eight, offers a rigorous academic program with a curriculum that integrates science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.

Women’s History Month is a time to recognize and celebrate the groundbreaking contributions of women worldwide. NSCHC is proud to support initiatives that inspire the next generation of leaders.
