On Sunday, October 6, NSCHC Chief Behavioral Health Officer, Dr. Cathy Sigmund represented North Side Christian Health Center at the NAMIWalk in Monroeville Community Park. Also walking on Sunday was Miss PA for America Strong, Aaryn Hunt, advancing her advocacy for mental health.

380 participants raised $109,516 for NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness. NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.

In addition to Miss Pennsylvania for America Strong, Aaryn Hunt is also the Keynote Speaker for Faith Renewed, NSCHC’s annual fundraising gala on Friday, October 18. A lifelong NSCHC patient, Aaryn’s whole health journey has led her to become a dedicated mental health advocate. She has made it her mission to break down the stigma that surrounds the topic of mental health and is vocal about her past and present struggles. Aaryn believes that therapy and healing can happen outside of a clinical setting and sees the power of meeting people where they are to be receptive to mental health treatment.
