Gala Celebration with Miss Pennsylvania for America Strong

At Faith Renewed, North Side Christian Health Center's annual fundraising gala, Keynote Speaker, Aaryn Hunt gave a moving speech about her own mental health struggles and her care in our behavioral health department. Aaryn, who is Miss Pennsylvania for America Strong 2024, has been a patient of NSCHC since she was a child.

"Their faith-based values have always made me feel safe, seen, and like family," she said. "There was a seamless transition from having my medication to incorporating regular therapy sessions into my life. I am forever grateful for the behavioral health staff. Most of all I appreciate my providers offering prayer at the end of appointments. Through mental health treatment I regained faith in the fact that my life still had purpose and that I could still be hopeful despite living with mental illness.

I believe incorporating faith into the medical setting is a bold and revolutionary approach, one that has the potential to bridge the gap and lead many people to the healing they seek," Aaryn said. "The staff at Northside Christian has helped me in countless ways, and please keep in mind that my story is just one testimonial out of the many patients that they have served over the years. I hope that hearing patient stories directly from patients gives everyone here this evening a true understanding of how quality medical care and faith based compassion can coexist and how truly impactful that dynamic is."

The gala was held on Friday, October 18 at Nova Place on the North Side, and was made possible by the following sponsors:
