Dentistry is Part of Essential Health Care

For many low-income families, access to oral health care is out of reach, contributing to a cycle of poorer overall health. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), children from low-income families are twice as likely to suffer from tooth decay and half as likely to visit the dentist. Aside from the pain and anxiety that tooth decay can cause, these children are also likely to be malnourished (because it hurts to eat).

Dentistry is an essential health care service, not only because of its role in evaluating, diagnosing, preventing, or treating oral diseases, but also because dental health affects systemic health. When people cannot prioritize their dental health they are putting their overall health at risk.

North Side Christian Health Center aims to remove the financial barrier for those who need quality dental care. As a Federally Qualified Health Center, all dental services are available on a sliding fee scale.

The dental clinic at North Side Christian Health Center is equipped to provide a wide range of care including:

  • Diagnostic services (exams and x-rays)

  • Preventive care

  • Restorative services (fillings, crowns, root canals, extractions, partial and full dentures, and more.)
